The Talking Stick is a symbol of power, honor and a means of communication in Indigenous American tribes. Talking Stick Festival has been a place to honor Aboriginal performance and invite interaction among people from all walks of life.
Sagkeeng’s Finest combines traditional jigging with clogging and tap to create an infectious upbeat dance style.
Dance includes Lara Kramer’s new creation ‘Native Girl Syndrome’, inspired by her grandmother’s migration from a remote community to a modern urban city.
The Circumpolar Soundscape Concert features songs about love of the North, with artists including Leela Gilday from the Northwest Territories and Diyet from Yukon.
‘Celebration of Powwow Culture’ features dancers of all ages and all are welcome to join in.
