C. Ryder Cooley: The Taxonomy of XMALIA

XMALIAXMALIA is an installation and performance series about extinction and human-animal relations with sound, video, drawings, taxidermy and live music.

In this podcast we talk with XMALIA creator C. Ryder Cooley, about the larger body of work — ANIMALIA, of which this installation is a part, the sense of loss that drives the human and animal creatures in her narratives and whether it’s a good thing or a bad thing to be “indescribable”. XMALIA is part of DownstreetArt, a public art project designed to revitalize downtown North Adams, Massachusetts.
