Established in 1993, the biennial Golden Point Award is Singapore’s premier national creative writing competition and aims to encourage new writing for both short stories and poetry in our four official languages – English, Chinese, Malay, and Tamil. The competition also aims to identify and nurture new literary talents and create a conducive environment for creative thinking and literary expression in Singapore.
The premier biennial competition counts writers such as Cyril Wong, Tan Chee Lay, Ishak Bin Abdul Latiff and Indrajit s/o Perumal Pillay among its list of accomplished alumni, who have gone on to active publishing and literary careers. After winning the 2nd prize for poetry at GPA 2003, Mr Wong went on to receive the NAC’s Young Artist Award for Literature in 2005 and the Singapore Literature Prize in 2006.
