Greening initiatives 2013:
  • Boogie festival and its sustainability partner, Treecreds, are proud to announce that through a joint effort with Boogie patrons, to date over 500 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions have now been offset with avoided deforestation carbon offstes. This CO2 equivalent is now locked away in primary forest projects including 12,000 hectares of remnant bushland in Queensland. This year we will be investing in a newer project in Tasmania called REDD forest, which protects natural flora and fauna and is home to the Tasmanian Devil.
  • Carbon Offset Car-pass Program
    • Treecreds launched its inaugural Carbon Offset Car-pass Program at the Boogie gates three festivals ago. Vehicles being greeted at the gates by Treecreds volunteers offering a $10 carbon car-pass (1/4 tonne of forest saving credits). The Program has always been voluntary, but uptake continues to increase and returning festivals goers now come prepared to get involved. This great partnership has meant that BoogieFestival is a truly carbon positive festival, with all funds going to preserve precious carbon-preserving habitat. In addition Boogie uses only recycled cooking oil biodiesel in its generators and offers patrons a free train ticket to reduce car travel and transport emissions further. All carbon emissions at Boogie are offset. Boogie its serious about taking responsibility for its carbon footprint and raising awareness about climate change.
  • Water use reduction
    • In addition to reducing its carbon emissions, we are working hard to reduce water use and waste production, by the construction of composting toilets, the diverting of all organic waste intoonsite wormfarms, and by the sorting of all waste into appropriate waste streams to maximize recycling and minimize landfill.
  • Your part
    • Boogie would like to thank and encourage everyone to participate in our sustainable trip, and urge all Boogie patrons to help by sorting recyclables into the appropriate bags handed out at the gate, taking all their rubbish with them, and minimizing water use on site
