Festival Description

Gisborne’s much loved wine and food festival celebrates the best of the region’s food and wine at Waiohika Estate. FEAST GISBORNE marks an exciting new chapter in the history of this event, it’s about much more than just a name change, it’s the evolution of the event into a world class festival. The event will be held in the same location as New Zealand’s most celebrated music festival, Rhythm and Vines set amongst a backdrop of vineyards and stunning rural landscape.

“This will be unlike any other food and wine festival in New Zealand, we want to showcase our region, our produce and our love for music in a new and innovative way,” says Alex Turnbull, Festival Director. Over the coming years FEAST GISBORNE hopes to establish itself as a major player on the tourism calendar, attracting visitors from around the country and overseas to the region and boosting Gisborne’s profile as a food and wine destination. As well as the best in eating and drinking FEAST goers will enjoy some truly world class entertainment.

Programming 2013:
  • Now in its 16th year, the event has evolved into one of New Zealand’s foremost wine and food festivals, regularly selling out its 5,000 tickets. Organisers expect this year to be no different. Feast will be held on Sunday October 27th (Labour Weekend) amongst the vines and stunning vistas of Waiohika Estate.
  • Food & Wine
    • Feast general manager and director Alex Turnbull says festival-goers can expect an impressive local wine and food offering, with up to 30 of Gisborne’s best vineyards and eateries showcasing exceptional local fare.
“Gisborne’s outstanding wine and produce lies at the heart of the festival. Locals already know how great their produce is and new-comers to the festival will not be disappointed. Our focus has been on ensuring festival-goers have a fantastic day as we look to build on the success and fun of last year’s event. We’re particularly pleased with the lineup of kiwi acts we’ve put together that we’re sure will excite and engage all ages,” he said.
  • Music
    • Quintessential kiwi rock band The Exponents will headline Feast. Led by enigmatic front man Jordan Luck, The Exponents have been loved by successive generations of New Zealanders producing such anthems as Why Does Love Do This to Me, Who Loves Who the Most and Victoria.
    • Supporting this stalwart of the New Zealand music scene are a number of popular live acts. Groove-ridden AhoriBuzz and indie rock band The Kaleidoscopes are included in the line-up. Additional acts are still to be announced.
