Downtown Contemporary Arts Festival, also known as D-CAF, is Egypt’s first arts festival to take place post revolution. The rich and diverse program features international multi-disciplinary artists in the contemporary arts field. The first edition takes place in April 2012 at a range of venues located in downtown Cairo, Egypt. The venues will include traditional cultural spaces such as theaters and performance venues as well as unconventional spaces — roof tops, alleys and streets, stores, and others to present their performances and events — taking the shows directly to the audiences.
The programming includes the performing arts: theatre, music, dance, visual arts and film by local, regional and international artists on the forefront of their genres. D-CAF is set to become an annual Arab art event in Cairo with the aim of bringing to Egypt’s audiences a new vision of creativity.
