Festival Description

The packed line-up promises to deliver that rich mix of music, cultures and experiences that the annual Plymouth Respect Festival is famous for. The Festival is an important event in the city’s calendar for highlighting diversity and celebrating differences. The programming includes a parade of cultures, world cuisine, workshops, and performance in dance and world music. world cuisine. It’s all for free in Plymouth City Centre (Guildhall, Civic Centre Piazza and City Centre Piazza). A spin-off strand of events is called Respect 4 Respect — with events and shows throughout the year to demonstrate the wide-reaching effects of the Festival.

Pre-festival performance 2011:
    Performance — Thursday, October 27, 2011, at 9:00pm at B-Bar
    • Expect to hear fantastic gypsy jazz in a gig being put on at the B-Bar in association with Plymouth Respect Festival. MANIERE DES BOHEMIENS will be performing their electric brand of gypsy jazz and polka. This is an amazing Gypsy Jazz band playing improvised Django Reinhardt, Stephane Grappelli influenced Gypsy Jazz and Eastern European swing, beginning Plymouth Respect Festival weekend… with a swing!
