Festival Description

Britain’s leading Festival devoted to the composer, the 32nd London Handel Festival, that spearheads Handel’s 250th anniversary celebrations this year. The Festival dates straddle and include his “Birth Day and Death Day” and the series features a veritable feast of Handel’s music created with consummate ‘culinary’ skill by artistic and musical director Laurence Cummings. These will be performed by a rich combination of gifted new talent and familiar solo specialists in a flavourful mix of recitals, concerts, a masterclass and talks complementing this year’s opera production at the Royal College of Music’s Britten Theatre: three performances of Handel’s ‘Alessandro’ HWV 21.

Festival Dates March 2 - April 11, 2012
