Festival Description

Verano Negro Festival is held every year to celebrate Afro-Peruvian culture—food, music, poetry and dance. Each year the towns of Chincha and El Carmen celebrate the summer season with their Black Summer Festival. These two towns have a reputation as party towns in addition to being centers for Afro-Peruvian heritage—naturally making perfect venues for the festival. A variety of folklore celebrations are held throughout the towns’ night clubs and in street parties day and night creating a carnival-like atmosphere.
