Performances take place in country houses, castles, old town squares and ancient parks throughout the Friuli region, with the final climax in the fairy-tale setting of the gothic town square in Spilimbergo, with its historic castle.

Almost 1000 musical groups have performed at the event over the years, with more than 100 Friulian, Slovenian, Carinthian and Istrian venues hosting the itinerant performances. The 2009 festival preview takes place from June 13 - 14, 2009 at Castello di Ragogna.

Festival Story:

Since 1979 the artistic project of Folkest has been organized in the beautiful landscapes of the Friuli Venezia Giulia region. Always open to novelty and to quality proposals—Folkest offers a program that presents established artists as well as new talents from various cultures. Musical proposals from throughout the world have been presented beside artists of the region. During the years its itinerant structure has attracted a select audience to the region who come not only from Italy but also from many European countries to enjoy world music in the beautiful venues. Since 2009 the festival takes place solely at the Castello Ragagno.
