Festival Description

The Couleur Café Festival proposes a full array of music styles coming from all over the world. With more than 40 concerts over three days, Couleur Café offers the best of R&B;, hip hop, world, afro, reggae, ragga, dub, dancehall, Latin, salsa, son, raï and rock under three huge tents. There is also a dance floor featuring electronic music where festival-goers can also feel the force of the musical mix. Couleur Café is an apt reflection of the city it calls home, Brussels, with its cultural mix that makes traveling the world as easy as looking out your front window.

Programming 2013:
  • With the sun only starting to break through, we can all use some happy summer news. And that’s exactly what we’ll provide by announcing the first 7 artists who will perform at the 24th edition of Couleur Café. As usual these artists will offer you a vibrant mix of reggae, hip hop, soul, funk, R&B;, Trip hop, Balkan, Punk and even Tex Mex. More names to be announced soon. Ticket sales start the 12th of March.
    • Calexico: Every time they come to Belgium, they play to a full house, so we’re thrilled Joey Burns, John Convertino and their band will enlighten Couleur Café for the very first time with their fine blend of Rootsrock, Tex-Mex and Mariachi trumpets.
    • Macklemore & Ryan Lewis: These guys are at the top of the American billboards and European charts with their catchy hit single Thrift Shop. Don’t expect bling bling & bitches though, they’re textbook examples of a new Hip Hop generation defending gay rights and recycling! First Belgian show ever!
    • Jimmy Cliff: This Grammy Award winning Reggae legend will present his latest album Rebirth. But no worries, he won’t forget the countless hit songs that earned him a spot in the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame.
    • Nneka: Although Shining Star might have been her major breakthrough, long-time fans like Lenny Kravitz, Damian Marley, Selah Sue and of course Couleur Café know better. Her sweet voice combined with just the right amount of R&B;, Reggae, Soul & Hip Hop makes this sweet German-Nigerian girl irresistible.
    • Tarrus Riley: THE reggae revelation of the moment, famous for his beautiful melodies and soulful voice. His gig is bound to please more than just the Reggae lovers.
    • Wax Tailor: French Hip and Trip Hop phenomenon with 3 albums and more than 400 shows in 50 different countries to his credit. He owes this huge popularity as much to his inventive sound as his outstanding live reputation.
    • Balkan Beat Box: Famous for delighting their crowd with an infectious mix of Balkan, Gipsy Punk and Electronica. Whoever witnessed these Israeli New Yorkers on stage, wouldn’t miss their show for the world.
