Festival Description

National Student Drama Festival (NSDF), in conjunction with Sheffield Theatres, RSC, LIFT, The Old Vic Tunnels and Menier Chocolate Factory presents NSDF12 - International Student Drama Festival - a 9-day celebration of young people’s theatre featuring the best of British work alongside exceptional student productions from across the world. NSDF12 – ISDF is an opportunity for young people to come together and present their work on the world’s stage to an international audience of theatregoers, industry experts and peers. You don’t have to be studying drama to be a part of it — you just have to enjoy it and want to watch it and make it.

NSDF12 – ISDF will feature over 100 performances of 20 international shows, 200 workshops, discussions, master classes and late night professional performances in venues across Sheffield, England. NSDF12 – ISDF will be an unprecedented celebration of young people’s theatre from around the globe during the Olympic Year. It will bring together emerging artists and practitioners along side an international elite of professionals spanning every theatrical discipline.

Festival 2012:
  • NSDF will celebrate the Olympic year by moving from a national to an international stage by producing an International Student Drama Festival (ISDF) in Sheffield, Yorkshire.
  • The festival will take place June 22 - 30, 2012
  • The ISDF is currently accepting from young people from around the world. The 20 most exceptional pieces of work, from the UK and abroad, will be chosen through a rigorous online and in-person selection process. They will be presented alongside a 200-strong Workshop and Technical Training Programme led by a diverse range of world-class professionals from all areas of the creative industries. The ISDF will bring together young people and professionals from around the world who will develop a process of engagement with each other from the initial stages of entering online to coming together at the Festival itself. Applications are now open for the 2012 festival. Stay tuned for further information.
