Supported by the Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts in Bratislava the festival presents the best theatre work, created by students of theatre schools, future professionals in the field of theatre and performing arts and art as such all over the world. The main aim of the presentation is to confront creative approaches and results of theatre-makers in relation to their own knowledge and experience, to compare the methodology of theatre creation and education, as well as to present theatre productions to the young audience and the audience open to both traditional and innovating expressions in the field of culture interpreted by beginners—actors, directors, dramaturgs, set and costume designers and creative writers.
Istropolitana introduces theatre as a means of inspiration, imagination, and mystification in connection with everyday reality. Istropolitana Project consists of presentation of school theatre performances created by festival participants. Accompanying activities of this unique event are creative workshops, lead by theater and culture experts. Essential part of the festival is the presentation of all productions of the Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts in Bratislava, created during the preceeding academic year. At the same time the festival is a multicultural event presenting wide spectrum of art. Discussions, important part of this biannual event, are enabling artists to compare their creative approaches; this is the platform, where students’ opinions and experiences are shared.
