Festival Description

The Canal Street Jazz & Blues Festival takes place in Arendal during the last week of July, with 43 concerts at 18 venues. You’ll be able to enjoy a full range from tender jazz tones to the rawest of blues played by both local, national and international names. Experience the concerts in the idyllic surroundings of the small coastal town of Arendal—Lighthouses, islands, backyards, local pubs and the town’s beautiful new House of Culture are all concert venues. If you fancy collecting memorable musical experiences in a beautiful maritime atmosphere, including the odd cry from a seagull, summer, sun and the traditional eating of shrimp at the pier—this is the festival for you!

Canal Street festival’s Green profile—The Canal Street festival received in 2006 a green certificate. The overall goal for the festival this year is to focus on the environment and environmental work, and through this create a better understanding and attitude among the festival’s staff and audience. During the festival there will be given information about recycling garbage, about public transport to mention some of the aspects. There will be offered ecological food, “Fair trade” suppliers and access to fresh water at the venues. There are also established guidelines for transport.

Festival Dates July 25 - 28, 2012
