Festival Description

The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) in collaboration with the National School of Drama (NSD) and the Jamia Millia Islamia produce the women’s festival of South Asian countries. The event coincides with International Women’s Day. The programming focus is primarily on bringing together regional and Asian women to interact and perform at the venues in Delhi, as well as Mumbai, Kolkata and Chandigarh.

The theme of the festival is Women’s Empowerment and serves to create awareness about women’s issues. It maintains that women are agents of change — key individuals who encourage education, development, peace and prosperity to themselves, their families and their communities. Women in society have played an important role in preserving traditions, arts and literature, as well as crafts, textiles, health and the environment, Through the expression of theatre, women are given the opportunity to share in their united efforts and interests by bringing many powerful messages to their audiences.
