Kodo at UC Berkley

Kodo, Japan’s preeminent taiko group celebrates thirty years of music with a North American Tour and a new album titled Akatsuki. You can see them live at UC Berkley’s Zellerbach Hall, February 3-4.

Pierre Bensusan at World Café Live

French-Algerian acoustic guitarist Pierre Bensusan incorporates Celtic, jazz, Brazilian and North African rhythms into his music. A veteran of the world music scene, Pierre has played at festivals all over the globe. He is touring in support of his new album ‘Vividly’ and you can see him at World Café Live in Philadelphia on January 23.

In the Old Marketplace with Frank London

Grammy award-winning composer, trumpeter, and bandleader Frank London is back with another phenomenal musical work. Capping off a weeklong residency at MassMoca, his troupe of Klezmer musicians present ‘A Night in the Old Marketplace’, a theatrical work based on the legendary 1907 Yiddish play by I.L. Peretz. You can see it on January 22 at MassMoca in North Adams, Massachusetts.

Old is New Again

Tuvan acoustic quartet Huun Huur Tu take this ancient music and reinterpret it with funky rhythms and modern acoustic compositions. They embark on a U.S. tour this month, and you can see them at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco on January 13.
