You can see Paco Gomes & Dancers, Nina Haft & Co., Anne Bluethenthal & Dancers, Dandelion Dancetheater, Deep Waters Dance Theater, Facing East Dance & Music, Moving Arts Dance and Navarette x Kajiyama Dance Theatre at the Julia Morgan Center for the Arts in Berkley, California on November 2nd and 3rd.

Electric Griots

Ba Cissoko Guinean Ba Cissoko comes from a line of griots, but takes this traditional music in new directions that incorporate jazz, electro and reggae. You can see them in residence from October 23-31st at Cafe Nomad in Marseille and at the Oslo World Music Festival the first week of November.

Luminescent Orchestrii

LuminescentLuminescent Orchestrii transform their love of Balkan and Gypsy music into a frenzied mix of violin, guitar, harmonica and base. They have performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Penn State Arts Festival, DUMBO Arts Festival and many more. You can see them on November 3rd at the Middle Earth Music Hall in Bradford, Vermont and on November 5th at the Space Alternative Arts Center in Portland, Maine.

Unveiled at St. Ann’s Warehouse

Roosen Adelheid Roosen wrote and directs two works- ‘Veiled Monologues’ and ‘Is.man’ that convert interviews with Islamic immigrants living in Holland into powerful theater. Both works are making their U.S. premieres at St. Ann’s Warehouse October 5-14th in New York.

Deeply Rooted in Chicago

Deeply Rooted Deeply Rooted Productions celebrates the African-American aesthetic through movement and music. This week they present a premiere production of Nefertiti: A Concert of Music and Dance at the Athenaeum Theatre in Chicago from October 4-7. The work is based on the 1977 musical which debuted at the Blackstone Theatre in Chicago.
