Anouk van Dyke Dutch choreographer Anouk van Dijk has been running her own dance company since 1998, training dancers in her own movement system; the Countertechnique. She will be premiering a new work- “Pushing Air”, at the Brakke Grond, Expo Zaal in Amsterdam on February 9th.

Alejandro Escovedo

Alejadro Escovedo Austin-based singer-songwriter Alejandro Escovedo defies categorization with his music that takes in equal parts from folk, blues, balladry and the Velevet Underground. He played at the High Performance Rodeo Festival in Calgary earlier this month and will appear for several nights at the Wakarusa Music and Camping Festival in Lawrence, Kansas in May, 2007.

Claudia Calderon in New York

Claudia Calderon Colombian pianist and composer Claudia Calderón specializes in performing music from Venezuelan and Colombian traditional sources, as well as classical, romantic and contemporary piano repertoire, often playing her own compositions. Claudia has played at many festivals, including the Chicago World Music Festival, the Latin Passion Festival, and the International Festival of Campeche. She will be performing an artist showcase January 21st and 22nd at the Association of Performing Arts Presenters Conference.

Omid Djalili has his own show

odjalili1_20070104.jpgOmid Djalili is an award-winning British-Iranian actor/comedian who has performed successful one-man theatre pieces at the Edinburgh Festival from 1993 to the present. His 2005 performance of ‘No Agenda’ at the festival broke all sales records. Omid has been commissioned to do his own series for BBC1, ‘The Omid Djalili Show’.

Veda Hille at the PuSh Festival

veda_109_20061228.jpg Veda Hille, the Vancouver-based singer/songwriter has been commissioned to write and perform a new set of songs for the PuSh Festival. You can see her perform there on January 28th, in Vancouver, Canada. Veda is the in-house composer for Vancouver’s Theatre Replacement and a member of two new bands: Duplex! (rock music for kids) and The Fits (vaudeville duets).
