Wu Man in Buenos Aires

Wu Man Wu Man, the Chinese born pipa virtuoso is credited with introducing this instrument to the Western World. She has played at the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival, Bang on a Can Music Festival, Festival d’Automne in Paris and the Hong Kong Arts Festival. She will be a special guest of the Kronos Quartet at the Gran Rex Theatre in Buenos Aires, Argentina on December 9th.

Omar Sosa in Spain

Omar Sosa The Cuban born jazz musician Omar Sosa has electrified many festival stages with his style of Afro-Cuban sound. Sosa has released 15 recordings, his most recent “Live at FIP”, an ensemble CD, featuring a quintent of bass, drums, percussion and saxophone. Omar Sosa will be at the UPV Jazz Festival in Valencia, Spain on November 30th.

For Cibelle, the way to Carnegie Hall

Cibelle The Brazilian singer Cibelle explores music ranging from bossa nova to electronica. She recently appeared at the World Music Festival in Chicago as well as the Sudoeste Festival in Brazil and the Montreaux Jazz Festival. Cibelle will be at Les Docks in Lausanne on November 23rd and at Carnegie Hall February 2, 2007.

Sankai Juku butoh troupe performs at BAM

Sakai Juku Sankai Juku, one of Japan’s most celebrated butoh troupes, has just appeared at the BAM Next Wave Festival in New York. Earlier this year they appeared at the International Theatre Festival of Bogota, the Innsbruck Dance Festival, and the International Cervantes Theatre Festival. Butoh is a Japanese contemporary art form developed in the 1960s as an expression of human awareness.

Lionheart to perform at Winter Garden in New York City

LionheartLIONHEART is one of America’s leading ensembles in vocal chamber music, best known for its interpretation of medieval and Renaissance a cappella music, with Gregorian Chant as the keystone of its repertoire. Lionheart has performed at the Aspen Music Festival and the Virginia Arts Festival. The upcoming 06-07 season will bring them to the World Financial Center’s Winter Garden on November 10th for the world premiere of Phil Kline’s John the Revelator, written for Lionheart and performed with the string quartet Ethel.
