Melbourne Festival
Protest and participation are hallmarks of the Melbourne Festival this year.
The interactive multimedia piece Site UnSeen walks its audience through the darkened streets of St. Kilda, using wit and dark humor to explore homelessness.
Jello Biafra appears with special guests for a night of spoken word and subversive humor. In The Rehearsal, Ireland’s Pan Pan Theatre gives the audience a choice: who is going to be, or not be, Hamlet. Actors compete to play the title role and you decide.
Closing the festival is notes from the hard road and beyond, an evening with Mavis Staples, Rickie Lee Jones, and other luminaries who will take audiences through a soundtrack of revolution and redemption.
