Nelsonville Music Festival

May 27th, 2013

Cat Power

Here’s a way to out-hip any hipster you know. Tell them you are traveling to Nelsonville, Ohio this week. Yes, Nelsonville.
The Nelsonville Music Festival is intimate enough to get close to the music, but big enough to offer a wide array of talent.
Headliners this year include Wilco, singer-songwriter Cat Power, the gypsy punk of Gogol Bordello and the inimitable Mavis Staples.
Great Ohio-based bands you’ll enjoy include indie rockers Wussy and bluegrass folk legend J.D. Hutchinson.
Multiple stages, visual art, kids’ stuff, great food and a sweet beer garden: Go find out why Andrew Bird during his appearance at Nelsonville said from the stage, this is “a hell of a lot better than Coachella!”

Love Saves the Day

May 20th, 2013

Love Saves The Day

Every day needs some Love!
One of the great festivals, Love Saves the Day, gives you all the best music you can pack into the weekend.
Team Love has worked hard to deliver international acts as well as the best of Bristol’s thriving local electronic scene.
Bonobo, aka British composer and DJ Simon Green uses samples from the outside world to create melody and rhythm. Eats Everything defines a new genre of forward-thinking underground house music, and Joy Orbison rounds things out with infectious dubstep.
If you just can’t make it on the Saturday day of Love, you get another chance for LSTD on Sunday with a whole new line-up.
Go get some Love!

Anywhere Theatre Festival

May 6th, 2013

Lady Rizo

Festivals are everywhere; Now, there’s one that’s anywhere!
At the Anywhere Theatre Festival you’ll find live performance pretty much anywhere except in a traditional theater setting.
As festival artistic director Paul Osuch notes, “story telling began as something we did around camp fires and over time it has been ghettoed inside traditional theatre venues and the structures that go with them”.
So break out of the mold and enjoy productions including The Nightingale & The Rose, Oscar Wilde’s classic parable of love versus knowledge amongst the ruins of the Brisbane Powerhouse.
2013 - When We Were Idiots is a walking tour one hundred years in the future that reflects on the peak days of rampant consumerism and ignorance. And don’t miss New York cabaret star Lady Rizo who combines vintage arrangements and songs from every decade.
