Helen Sung: A Jazz Education

Photo: Helen SungPianist, composer and bandleader Helen Sung is one of the most exciting artists in the jazz world today. She has worked with jazz masters, including Clark Terry, Slide Hampton and Wayne Shorter, and her project NuGenerations was selected as a 2009 US State Department Rhythm Road ensemble. She has been featured on Marian McPartland’s Piano Jazz show and NPR’S JazzSet with Dee Dee Bridgewater.

In this interview Helen talks about her own music education, her hopes for arts education in the public school system and her travels through southern Africa with the Rhythm Road Project.
