Natalia Pelevine: Daring to Speak

Natalia PelevineNatalia Pelevine is a playwright, activist and co-founder of the Democratic Russia Committee. Her play I Plead Guilty is based on the events of the Moscow theater siege of 2002. It was first staged in London in 2006 and then in Russia in 2008, where it was banned after its opening night performance.

In this podcast Natalia talks about a new production of the play that premiered recently in New York City, how the play sifts through layers of rhetoric and terror to reveal the humans involved in the incident, and how Russia can move forward in a positive direction.
