Clem DeRosa: A Jazz Education
Clem DeRosa’s career as a professional musician, educator, arranger, composer and band leader spans forty years. He has recorded and performed with jazz greats including Glenn Miller, Charlie Mingus and Coleman Hawkins. He is a pioneer in jazz education and in 1990 he was inducted into the Jazz Hall of Fame. Mr. DeRosa directs the American Jazz Repertory Orchestra which will perform at the 2010 Pittsfield CityJazz Festival.
In this podcast he talks about why he focused on jazz music education, why it is important to keep music in the public school system, and how there are only two kinds of music: good and bad.
