Parramasala celebrates the transforming nature of Australia, as South Asian culture takes its place alongside Anglo Celtic and European heritages. The festival’s name draws from the host city of Parramatta and the Hindi word ‘masala’, meaning a blend.

Garam masala is an all-purpose blend of spices used in cooking throughout South Asia, seasoning dishes from lamb to lentils. Most cooks agree that using freshly made garam masala is key to its flavor. By investing the fifteen minutes it takes to make this spice blend, you’ll find a door has opened to a whole new world of cooking.
