At the Iceland Airwaves Music Festival in Reykjavik, you might assume that fish would be at the center of most meals and snacks. You’d be wrong. We were stopped in our tracks upon discovering that the most popular thing to eat in Iceland is the hot dog, or “pylsur” as it is known there. As reported in The Atlantic, hot dogs are ubiquitous and there is one hot dog stand that is THE place to go - Bæjarins beztu pylsur. There’s always a line at every hour of the day or night and you need to be prepared to order as soon as you get to the counter.
If you can’t make it to Reykjavik or simply don’t want to stand in line you can buy the hot dogs online. In this case, prepare these tasty and healthy Sweet Potato Oven Fries to go with your Icelandic hot dog.
