Bayimba Cultural Foundation
Bayimba Cultural Foundation organizes a range of events with a view to uplift arts and culture, especially visual and performing arts, in Uganda and East Africa. In 2010, it introduced a series of one-day Bayimba Regional Festivals of the Arts that are organized annually in towns across Uganda. They provide a platform for artistic talents from the regions in Uganda while aiming at enhancing access to artistic and cultural expressions countrywide, thereby supporting the development of the local arts scene. In 2013, four towns will be hosting these exciting multidisciplinary Bayimba Regional Festivals: Gulu, Jinja, Mbarara, Mbale.
|Festival Dates||June 1, 2013|
Bayimba Cultural Foundation has set as its goal to uplift arts and culture, especially visual and performing arts, in Uganda and East Africa by promoting original cultural exchange and creativity, contributing to making Uganda and East Africa a significant hub for music and arts in Africa.
To achieve this, it organizes a range of activities on an annual basis. The Bayimba Regional Festivals of the Arts are organized for one day on an annual basis (between March and July) in various towns across Uganda. The first series of Bayimba Regional Festivals took place in 2010. Ever since, a range of multi-arts festivals have been organized across Uganda ahead of the annual Bayimba International Festival of the Arts that is scheduled for the month of September.
Like the Bayimba International Festival, each Bayimba Regional Festival brings an unparalleled feast of music, dance, theatre, film, visual arts from local artists from that region. As such, the Bayimba Regional Festivals have become a highlight on the cultural calendars in the various regions while they are increasingly visited by people from other regions, thus enhancing cultural tourism to the various regions.
