Festival Description | Istanbulive is an all-day showcase of Turkish music launched in 2009. Produced and presented by Serdar Ilhan and Mehmet Dede, the event is supported by the Turkish Ministry of Culture & Tourism. Istanbulive brings together one of the largest-ever assemblies of musicians from Turkey on an American stage and presents the most diverse live music the nation has to offer. In its first three years at Central Park SummerStage, over 15,000 people enjoyed the sounds of Istanbulive. |

- MOR VE ÖTESI
- One of Turkey’s premier rock bands Mor ve Ötesi came together in Istanbul in 1995. The band redefined Turkish rock music with its groundbreaking, quarter-million-selling fourth album “Dünya Yalan Söylüyor” and its socially & politically charged themes. No stranger to heavy touring, the band played over 500 concerts, 5 domestic nationwide tours and 3 European tours. The band’s 7th studio album “Güneşi Beklerken” was released at the end of 2012 to great critical and commercial acclaim.

- Turkish alternative rock giant Manga came into the public spotlight in 2004 after their first single “Bir Kadın Çizeceksin” was included in the EA Sports FIFA 2006 game soundtrack. After more than 250 concerts, including at prominent venues like Wembley Arena, the O2 Academy in London and SummerStage in New York, the band mastered the fusion of Anatolian melodies, rock, electronic and hip-hop. Manga earned a 2009 MTV Europe Music Award, and came second at the Eurovision Song in 2010 with their song “We Could Be the Same.”

- Gripin’s melodic indie rock sound has earned them a legion of fans since the band’s early days in 2000. In the last 2 years alone, Gripin performed over 200 concerts in Austria, Belgium, Germany, Cyprus, Turkey, Switzerland, Azerbaijan and performed in the US from Boston to Oakland. Gripin’s new album “Yalnızlığın Çaresini Bulmuşlar” was released last year in December.

- The virtuosic New York Gypsy All-Stars blend traditional Gypsy and Turkish melodies with a supercharged jazz and funk sensibility, creating an exhilarating sound that is just delightful. The bands exemplifies New York in the most eclectic sense possible, with members hailing from Macedonia, Greece, Turkey, and Brooklyn, and who have performed at internationally prestigious venues both formal and casual, from Carnegie Hall to Central Park’s SummerStageember.
