Festival Description

The Sunken Garden Poetry Festival takes place in a lovely outdoor venue at the Hill-Stead Museum. All performances will take place rain or shine. Should there be inclement weather events will take place under tents. For your comfort please be sure to bring your own lawn chair or blanket for garden events. During evening events you are welcome to bring your own picnic and dine al fresco on the West Lawn. There are also picnic tables for your use. You have the option to purchase food and beverages on site provided by a local caterer.

There is free on-site parking for your convenience. Daytime Festival events generally take place on Wednesday evenings. The gates open at 4:30pm. Pre-performance lectures and discussions take place from 5:00pm–5:45pm. Music begins at 6:15pm, and Poetry begins at 7:30pm.
