Festival Description

Jazz on the Rocks music festival combines the finest elements of outdoor living — camping, sun, sea and all that jazz in a pristine setting in the most unique Cape Columbine Nature Reserve. Tietiesbaai is a 90 minute drive from Cape Town and is an unspoiled stretch of beach in the Reserve. The Reserve itself borders Paternoster, a quaint fishing village with various accommodation offerings for those who prefer comforts other than a camp fire.

The event is safe, family friendly with tons of activities for the kids including sand castle competitions, beach games and much more. An integrated approach with the NSRI, Police and Disaster management has enabled an incident free event to date. The highlight of the event without a doubt is the spectacular stage which is built on the rocks in the sea, with the best vantage points from the water itself. Established by Heart 104.9 Presenter, Clarence Ford, in 2004, Jazz on the Rocks was a hit from the start.

“Jazz on the Rocks uses music as a medium to champion environmental concerns and challenges”. “In 2013 the Provincial Government’s, “Too precious to Pollute” campaign constitutes the cornerstone of our Environmental objectives says Ford, I am proud of what we achieved with very little resources and serious challenges that the Cape Columbine Nature Reserve presents”. “We have a committed team, who are as understanding of the need to deliver a quality experience and economically impacting the poorest of the poor in Paternoster itself.” Locals will prepare delectable West Coast dishes, commensurate with the unspoilt beauty of the Reserve and the spectacular setting sun as the backdrop. The success of the event is attributed to the support of sponsors, Nedbank, Old Mutual, The Saldanha Bay Municipality, SA Tourism, WESGRO, The Department of Environmental Affairs, SON, NASPERS, Heart 104.9, JTI and the Western Cape Government.
