The intention behind Waves has always been to meet the audience in its everyday life in the urban space - such as the marketplaces, the streets, parks, shops, etc. Thus the idea is to transform the whole city into one gigantic stage and give both the habitants and the visiting spectators an experience they could never have expected. All invited performing and visual artists stay in Vordingborg during the entire festival. This results in many creative exchanges between the citizens and the visiting artists.With this extension and visualising of stage art Cantabile 2 hope to increase the interest in theatre. Also, as Waves places Vordingborg on the map of the world, the idea is to extend the regions’ culture.
