Festival Description

Since 2004, promoter Jay Cleary has been an essential part of the Toronto music scene, tirelessly promoting hundreds of his own events under the much-loved Nufunk.ca banner and lending support & expertise to other promoters on many more. Jay’s moving to New York City in the New Year (2012) and will be leaving some big shoes to fill — but not before putting on the biggest and most exciting Nujazz Festival ever!

The Nujazz Festival is produced with the financial support of the Ontario Arts Council & Toronto Arts Council. Presentation partners include: Do Right Music, United Soul, Toronto Downtown Jazz, Small World Music, Batuki Music Society, CIUT 89.5 FM, Manifesto, Fusicology Toronto and Toronto Jazz Buzz.

Former festival headliners include: Tortured Soul, Aloe Blacc, DJ Shadow, Jazzanova (Germany), The Herbaliser Band (London, UK), Hypnotic Brass Ensemble (NYC), Mark de Clive-Lowe (New Zealand), Rich Medinam Nickodemus (NYC), Jose James (London, UK) . They were joined by some of the most exciting live acts from all across Canada, including: Elizabeth Shepherd, Souljazz Orchestra, Maylee Todd, King Sunshine, Grand Analog, Planet Earth and The National Parcs.
