Festival Description | The Grec Festival of Barcelona presents a program of circus, performance, theatre, dance and music. Since 1976 the annual festival has made an impression on the cultural calendar of Europe and brings together city-wide residents, industry professionals, aspiring artists and tourists to the attractions. The festival draws its name from its main venue — Teatre Grec (Greek Theatre) an open-air theatre built for the 1929 Universal Exhibition. The festival is organized by the Barcelona City Council and involves numerous promoters within Barcelona who produce many of the shows. The festival’s aim is to support local outstanding artists and seeks out leading international performers. As a leading showcase for performances of shows produced abroad Grec is one of the leading festivals as the go-to place for exceptional artistry. |
