Festival Description

The annual Festival de Cirque Vaudreuil-Dorion has taken place since 2004. The festival is organized under the honorary presidency of the Olympian Bruny Surin. The organizers of the Festival de cirque have partnered with the Summer Festival of Quebec and the Montreal Jazz Festival, a partnership that allows the entry of internationally recognized artists.

A new thing this year — the circus moves on Jeannotte Street and will be a street festival. Another major component of this year’s program — the Festival returns to the basics of circus by adding animals to its lineup. Three representations of the family show “Le Grand Cirque” will be held at the town arena of Vaudreuil-Dorion on June 25. Young and old can among others admire the prowess of elephants, monkeys, jugglers, clowns, etc. Rides of elephants and camels will also be offered on the site for the duration of the festivities.

“The gratuities of almost all activities — but mostly shows, allow access to all our citizens. This is certainly an added value to our festival. By moving the site onto the Jeannotte Street, the circus will look like a street festival just like in major cities worldwide. We are very proud to have such an event in our city, “said Mayor Guy Pilon. Festival regulars will be pleased of the return of rides, artisan’s alley, a golf kart pedals, circus Jean-Coutu, circus workshops in minivélo, etc.

“The 2011 edition of the Festival de cirque Vaudreuil-Dorion brings a breath of fresh air. First we return to basic, to the idea that people have a traditional circus: animals, jugglers, acrobats… It also houses troops from Japan, Italy, France and Canada on Jeannotte Street. People will be attracted by the magic that will reign over the site, “said Yannick Gosselin, festival president.
