| Festival Description | Since 1982 the International Folkdance & Folkmusıc Festival has taken place in İskenderun, Hatay Province. The Festival’s aim is to present the cultural tradition, living folklore and the rich ethnographic heritage of Turkey. It serves to introduce the folklore treasures of Turkey to other countries and regions, and to provide an opportunity for the members of groups preserving their traditions in neighbouring countries to get together. İskenderun is located on the beautiful Mediterranean Sea — the festival has a great atmosphere that is enhanced by colourful performances by participants.
