| Festival Description | The International Music Festival "Janacek's May" has been a major contribution to the rich musical tradition which has been developed in Ostrava's region since 1921. The festival presents and supports modern dramatists, guest performances of forefront composers and artists. Ostrava has a large symphony orchestra (The Janacek's Philharmonic Orchestra Ostrava), an opera (The National Moravian-Silesian Theatre), the world renowned Janacek's Chamber Orchestra and a whole range of excellent musicians, which—along with suitable concert auditoriums—create good conditions for the realisation of demanding festival programmes. |
