Festival Description

Rhinoceros Theatre Festival is Chicago’s annual festival of theatre, comedy, poetry, and more… Produced by Curious Theatre Branch, the Rhinofest gives Chicago artists and those from far and wide the opportunity to perform in front of audiences in a creative and supportive atmosphere. The arts fringe festival’s diverse program continues to develop each year since its inaugural edition in 2002.

    • Buckle up! Veteran Chicago performer KellyAnn Corcoran is taking you on a ride through the raucous imaginations of ten of Chicago’s finest writers, including Greg Allen, Barrie Cole, David Isaacson, Jenny Magnus, Beau O’Reilly, Diana Slickman and Danny Thompson!

    Tales Told by an Idiot
    • Dmitri Peskov’s unique one-man show that consists of several short stories that feature a political prisoner, an old man in a box, a dead poet, a surreal date and two men exploring a very unique relationship.
  • IRA S. MURFIN
    3 Talk Experiments
    • Writer, theatre artist and scholar Ira S. Murfin is happy to take your questions. Q & A, the centerpiece of 3 Talk Experiments, is a post-show discussion with no show preceding it. The exchange begins with a question, any question at all. How it continues is the responsibility of Murfin and his audience together.
  • The Harmonious Hunks
    • The Harmonious Hunks are an a cappella barbershop style singing quartet with a tendency for awesome!
  • PREVIEW / STAGED READING
    Clumsy Sublime
    • Rhino proudly presents Barrie Cole’s work in progress about the uncommon friendship between a fifteen year-old girl and a newly unemployed gay man. Featuring Edward Thomas-Herrera, Sidonie Greenberg, Jeffrey Bivens, Vicki Walden, Kelli Cousins and a couple of figures from Edward Hopper’s 1959 painting “Excursion into Philosophy.”
