Festival Description | The very first Music Biennale Zagreb, an international festival of contemporary music, was held in Zagreb back in 1961. Over the past years many well-known and renowned composers and performers have appeared on the Biennale stages, such as Igor Stravinsky, Olivier Messiaen, Luciano Berio, Witold Lutoslawski, Krzystof Penderecki, Karlheinz Stockhausen, John Cage, Maurizio Kagel, and Dmitry Shostakovich. Today, the Music Biennale Zagreb is an internationally recognized and popular festival. |
