Festival Description | The Festival B’Shekel was founded by Shaanan Streett, from the band Hadag Nahash with the aim of bringing together communities and for their social enhancement. The festival features a line-up of major musical acts brought to out-of-the-way towns. Admission only costs one shekel—making the events open to all. The B’Shekel association’s aim is to enhance and encourage social and cultural change from within a community. The organization fosters relationships with the communities by engaging with its members prior to the festivities. Teenagers take part in workshops involving social empowerment in large part fosters learning to develop tools for the teens to use once the festival has ended. These practical training tools in production and promotion encourage additional production and promotion projects in these communities. |
