Festival Description

The Lithuanian Festival at Southwark Playhouse is produced in association with Arts Printing House in Vilnius, Lithuania. The Festival features theatre, film, music and art from Lithuania under the artistic direction of Svetlana Dimcovic who also serves as director of two of the festival’s productions: Gabriele Labanauskaite’s The One That Hurt The Most, and Dovile Katiliute’s The Doll. In addition, to Dimcovic’s plays, the program includes three new plays by talented emerging playwrights from Lithuania and there is a range of films and music as well. Dimcovic worked with these blossoming writers as part of the young writers program which she has run for the Arts Printing House over a three year period. Some of this work was supported by the British Council. Also to note—Simon Usher will direct Marius Macevicus’s Goodbye My Love. The Lithuanian Festival is described by the Guardian newspaper in their Critics’ Picks of best work that’s performing at the moment, in a rare chance to see theatre, music, film, and art.
