Festival Description

In May 2013, the Festival International de Musique Actuelle de Victoriaville (FIMAV) will celebrate its 30th birthday! The FIMAV’s program is drawn from the fringes of world music, rock, jazz and electronica to offer the genre-crossing that defines creative music. Musique Actuelle thus becomes the crossroads where these trends meet, the place where the artist seeks to balance the traditional approach and the freedom to grow in an environment without conventions or solid frames. And so the FIMAV carries on with its mission of artistic audacity and innovation. FIMAV is an important event in North America that is dedicated to creative music and followed by international music critics.

    • On March 26, 2009 the Festival International de Musique Actuelle de Victoriaville was in attendance at the 10th Grands Prix du tourisme québécois du Centre-du-Québec. During the ceremony, FIMAV received the award. This prestigious distinction acknowledges our excellent festival and its exceptional appeal with international tourists. The key to this success is found in the event’s one-of-a-kind friendly ambience and an ongoing effort to provide outstanding concerts. The provincial finale of the Grands Prix du tourisme québécois will be held this coming May 15, 2009 in Québec. A proud national finalist, FIMAV would like to thank all the passionate souls who have been supporting the event during the past 25 years!
