Festival Description

The carnaval is a folk and heritage festival whose aim is to keep alive the disappearing culture of the region. The ancient folk music, dancers, traditions, and foods of Peru are of great appeal to locals and tourist alike. Participants include performers, dancers, conductors, researchers, scientists, and students as well as locals and tourists as all strive to keep alive the intangible and tangible elements of the culture and the ecosystem of the region through the arts and education. In addition, speakers, healing sessions, folklore myths and legends are told, and features guest artists and keynote presentations take place.
