Festival Description

Due to popular demand and to broaden the accessibility of its daytime programme of arts and activities, the ever evolving Gaymers Camden Crawl moves to May Bank Holiday weekend in Spring 2010. The UK’s original inner-city will set up camp across Camden Town’s two mile stretch of high street since its 1995 inauguration. Previous editions have witnessed stellar performances from the likes of Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Kasabian, The Maccabees and Little Boots at The Roundhouse alongside an equally amazing line up of legends which included Echo & The Bunnymen, The Fall, Wire, 808 State and Billy Bragg. As was and will always be tradition, Camden Town was bursting with fresh and exciting new talent over its forty official venues for one very long weekend. The Gaymers Camden Crawl is sure to follow in the footsteps of its predecessors featuring the hottest new acts converging in one location to launch the festival season.

Variety Club Series Lineup 2012:
  • THE GREAT ROCK & ROLL QUIZ (7pm)
    • Prosperous music svengalis and historians, Piers Miller and Andy Ross host their ridiculous monthly music quiz at Variety for the first time. Pit your wits against North London’s premier musical quizmasters. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll argue about the geographical features of Essex!
  • JAMES REDMOND (8pm)
    • A dry, slick and subtle stand up who delivers unexpected twists and turns during his set as he deconstructs his art. Our compere for the night has made his name as a model and actor and is now earning his reputation as one of the funniest comedians on the circuit.
  • JOEL DOMMETT (8.15pm)
    • Joel has made a huge impact on the comedy circuit since 2007and now performs regularly at comedy events across the UK. Never failing to reduce the audience into bouts of uncontrollable laughter, this incredibly talented comedian has a unique approach and delivery that makes for the ultimate stand up. http://www.joeldommett.com
  • ECHO LAKE (9pm)
    • London-based five-piece Echo Lake produce wonderfully mesmerizing lo-fi pop soundscapes which sit somewhere comfortably between Warpaint’s dreamlike atmospheres and The Concretes at their most melancholic. They have got the songs – gorgeous yet gloriously dirty shoegaze – as well as the look to capture both fancy and imagination. http://www.echolakeband.com
  • ICONA POP (DJ Set) (9.45pm)
    • This talented duo from Stockholm make the kind of forward-thinking, effortlessly cool pop that seems second nature to most Scandinavians. Their sophisticated brand of glistening electropop earned them a record deal with Mercury and we’re very pleased to announce they’ll be spinning some great tunes for us on the night. http://www.iconapop.com
