Festival Story:
Seaside lounges, restaurants, bars and anything you need to enjoy the Balaton sunset, plus a great number of stars on several stages, that’s the already beloved concept of Balaton Sound. The event attracts almost 90,000 visitors each year and turns Zamárdi, a small town on the southern shores of lake Balaton into a massive party arena. Artist feature 2013:
- Solomun
- Solomun has long been a favourite of the underground house world thanks to his always anthemic singles, edits and remixes as well as because of Diynamic, the hugely influential label he runs. In 2013 though, he has reached new heights for a number of reasons. Firstyl Ibiza, Solomun + 1 at Pacha Ibiza and sees the boss headline on his own with one hand picked guest playing alongside him. Âme, Dennis Ferrer, Miss Kittin, DJ Hell, Nicky Curly, Tiefschwarz, Tensnake, and Marek Hemmann are just the first acts to be named as guests of Solomun+1. Of course, the Croat is always busy in the studio too, and his latest remix is of English indie band Foals, you can listen to it here and it is to be released on Warner Music in the coming days and outside of his Ibiza gigs will be playing all over Europe in the summer months. Tomorrowland in Belgium, SW4, Creamfields and Lovebox in the UK, Extrema Fest in the Netherlands, Melt! In Berlin and club gigs around Switzerland and Germany are all on the cards, as outlined below…

Festival Awards:
- Balaton Sound rates among the best festivals in Europe. After Sziget success at the European Festival Awards 2012, the biggest international festival competition, the youngest music event of Sziget Cultural Management, Balaton Sound, won in the category of Best Medium-sized European Festival 2012. In 2012 two Hungarian festivals were shortlisted for the European Festival Awards. Both events are among the top ten in their category: Sziget competed for the award for Best Major European Festival, while the winner Balaton Sound was in the contest for the Best Medium-Sized Festival award. Károly Gerendai, Managing Director of Sziget Cultural Management Ltd. said: „This award is a huge recognition both for our company and also for Hungarian festival organizers as now we have two festivals being considered the best in their category in Europe.” The award was received by the main organizers of Balaton Sound, Norbert Lobenwein and Zoltán Fülöp, 9th of January, 2013 in Groningen, The Netherlands. They noted that the last six years of Balaton Sound is a success story in itself: the prime atmosphere of the festival was a professional and audience success from the very beginning. Since, the interest for the festival is increasing proven by more and more sold-out festival days. The organizers said: “This award is for the success of the previous years. It’s an honour for us and we take it as a challenge to improve the event in order to receive it next time as well.”
