Festival Description

“Falak” takes an important place in the musical culture and national heritage of Tajikistan by its by . “Falak” is one of the most ancient musical traditions of Tadjik people and does not have notes and is an oral creative work. “Falak”, literally meaning Fate, sky—is a musical/poetic genre of lyrics and the philosophy of Tajik folk music. The first International Festival “Falak” - Symposium was held in March of 2004 with organized concerts and discussions. Organizers of festival are an “Open Society” Institute of Tajikistan and the “Culture Development Center”. The second International Festival “Falak” was organized in July, 2006 in south of Tajikistan by the Ministry of Culture of Tajikistan and Hulumat (local government) of Khatlon oblast.
