Balkanfolk is a practical seminar for Balkan Folklore—the only one of its kind in Europe. The workshops involve a gathering of participants from all the continents. For the 9th year, admirers of Balkan folklore will explore the culture, traditions, customs of the Balkan countries and the beauty of Bulgaria.
The seminar this year will be held in the town—resort Bankya, 15 km away from Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. The participants are accommodated in hotel “Jeravna” (Bankya). During excursions there are possibilities to visit Melnik (the smallest town in Bulgaria), the Rozhen monastery, National park Vitosha and X International folk festival “Vitosha”.

Spend unforgettable days in the unique atmosphere of the town Bankya, and evenings spent enjoying wonderful folk music with Balkanfolk’ orchestra and singers. There is the possibility to take part in Balkan folk without attending the lessons. Those who choose to participate may choose up to 5 classes for daily for 10 educational days. The folk dance lessons, lasting 90 minutes, are accompanied by live music and are held in groups for advanced as well as beginners. The teachers Emil Genov—Bulgarian folk dances; and Marius Ursu—Romanian folk dances will present the ethnographic regions of Bulgaria and Romania.
The lessons of musical instruments are individual with duration 60 minutes. The lessons of Bulgarian folk singing and Bulgarian language are held in individual or groups sessions for the duration of 60 minutes. Upon arrival participants will receive their “Individual program” with courses they have declared.
