| Festival Description | The Omani Theatre Festival is a competitve event that is held at Al Bustan Palace Hotel under the auspices of Dr. Yahya bin Mahfoudh Al Mantheri, president of the State Council in the presence of His Highness Sayyid Haitham bin Tariq Al Said, minister of heritage and culture and other dignitaries and drama lovers. The Omani theatre, with its continued efforts, has won praises from the Omani people as it has progressed to become a major cultural event in the country. The 2006 prize for the best drama was won by Al Bakhis, presented by Al Dhahirah youth drama troupe. The best director, Taleb Kahlan was selected for his drama named “Al Sawahil”, presented by Musandam youth drama troupe. Said bin Rashid won the prize for the best actor for his role in “Al Sawahil”, while Fallath Al Habsi, won the prize for the best actress for her role in Al Bakhis’ drama. The prize for the best production went to Hussain Salem for his drama “Fathers for Sale and Hire”. Captain Badr Al Hamdani and Emad Al Shanfari, won the prize for the best script. |
