Taking its name from a traditional dance form native to the Snmatenga region of Burkina Faso, the Wed-Binde Festival strives to bring attention and increased valuation to forms of indigenous art, as well as to bring tourists attention, presence, and participation to the region. Just as the dance form uses the whole body in its production, so the festival that is its namesake uses the many facets of Northern African indigenous culture to its advantage.
