| Festival Description | The Creative Forum for Independent Theatre Groups (Europe-Mediterranean) is an artistic, cultural phenomenon taking place in the ancient city of Alexandria. One of the major axes in the Forum is the concept of anti-festival—for the Forum is a space for artists, a space in which there is no place for politicians and formalities. Publications Programme held during the Forum ”First Time”: In every human experience there is a first time and in every playwright’s experience there is also a first time, when his/her imaginary and spiritual creation is incarnated into a perfectly written product in reality. When the self is circulated between the people’s hands, library shelves and window-shops, it still carries the essence of the first time with all its magic, ambiguity, meaning of uniqueness and discovery, and pure spiritual rapture. From the core of these meanings comes the title of our publication programme for this year, that aims at translating and publishing a collection of one-act plays. Through this bilingual project, of which one party is played by a group of European languages and the other by the Arabic language, we aspire to introduce the Arab theatre artist to the creativity of others, and at the same time, preserve the genius of the mother-tongue in which the original text was written. Through this programme of publications, the theatre texts will reflect the richness of life experiences and Man’s desire to overcome a stronger reality in an era that can be only described as an era of fear. International Classroom for Theatre Students “Theatre Channels”: This programme aims at building a specialized classroom made up of 20 theatre students coming from Europe, the Mediterranean and the region. The classroom runs for 10 days, 5 hours a day. During that time, students will be exposed to various educational experiences of various trainers coming from different countries in all the fields of theatre, such as acting, directing, producing, stagecraft, criticism. This creative programme is, consequently, an opportunity of dialogue, exchange of experiences between young generation and building future joint projects. In addition, it sets up the atmosphere for a multi-cultural world. For more information about these programs and the application information see below and visit http://www.iact-eg.org/. |
