Festival Description

Across Hampton Roads, jazz lovers have been flocking to the Hampton Jazz Festival for 31 years. Begun in 1969 by John Scott in collaboration with George Wein, Hampton University and the City of Hampton, the festival has featured a virtual “who’s who” of jazz, blues, gospel and pop performers ranging from the Basie and Ellington orchestras to Dave Brubeck, Gerry Mulligan, Miles Davis, Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles and B.B. King.
